The making of a small instrument case with logo

Image
This instrument case is made from birch plywood and is a light but strong case. The logo is printet with a technique for transfering print to wood siimilar to THIS description. I have never tried it before so I was very qurious of how it would turn out. I managed to get it look a little "old" or "worn", and that suited the customer well I hope. The instrument is made by Magnar Storbækken at Naturinstrumenter . I just used Liberon Black Bison wax. Added extra side thickness to better fit the hinges and to make a more sturdy look and feel to the instrument case.

Making an instrument case in vintage gun case style

My most resent build is an instrument case for Norwegian traditional instruments "birch bark lure" and "horn" (billy goat), made by Magnar Storbækken at Naturinstrumenter.  This was a fun project for a customer from western Norway. A huge challenge was the fact that I didn't have the instruments, but a measured drawing of them made by the customer. This made it difficult and quite challenging, but luckily they all fitted! It is made from birch and stained with Liberon spirit wood dye. Then 3 coats of Finishing oil. Photo by customer, all parts fitted! Handle and lock. Finished. Workshop.  Templates of the instruments
